Sewing machines and the little faces of Uganda

One of the 50+ sewing machines donated to graduates of the sewing program
The bright future of Uganda
Good morning!
Yesterday we attended the graduation ceremony for fifty women and one man who made it though the ‘God is Grace’ program. This is a two year program that teaches mainly women how to sew and become seamstresses. This allows them to sell their goods in market and provide income and a future for their children. It was great to to see the joy and excitement in the faces of the people. They finally found a way out of overwhelming poverty and hunger. These women and their families will be changed forever. We got to hang out and play with the local children who were so happy and grateful to see us. I already get the feeling that Uganda is going to be an awesome experience.
I also want to say thank you to all the men and women in the armed forces that have risked their lives for the freedoms we so often take for granted. This time last year my fiance Adam was in Iraq working hard day and night to keep us safe and free from harm. I thank him and all who have come before us that have stood up in the face of fear and fought to keep our country safe and free. Without them, we too may have been facing the daily realities that the people of Uganda and many other countries deal with everyday. THANK YOU! Happy 4th! Have a good ol’ juicy burger and some smores’ for me!
Cheers,
LG
